Lorena's self-portrait: I could just say I’m vegetarian, have long blonde hair and use real nappies with my baby. I listen to Country music and grow my own potatoes. But that gives a view of me that isn’t the whole thing! Okay, here’s another one: I own and run a pickup truck business with my husband, we’re restoring an Edwardian house, I’m studying for a Classics degree with the Open University, I listen to Meatloaf and American rock anthems. I’m getting the hang of this now: I’m married, with a baby. I look after the house and help out with my husband’s business. We’re hoping to move to another house where there’s room for the business and where we can grow more vegetables and keep chickens. I love my Aga, read Country Living and listen to Radio4 and Classic FM.

Ok, as Elli's done a new one I should too... re-reading the above doesn't sound right to me any more, either. How interesting that we can change so much in just a year or two - you'd think by the time you grew up (whatever that is!) you'd be a bit more, sort of, well, describable. I'll come back with a new me...

Elli's self-portrait: OK try this...I'm a young, dynamic, business kind of person. I like fast cars, surfing the net and plenty of sex. I dye my hair bright red and think that long hair is for losers. My ideal place to live would be California, my favourite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Or...I'm a mother of 3, live on an organic farm, help my husband with the farmwork. We produce organic meat. I like world music and think that children should go to Steiner Schools. Or...I'm a vegetarian, as I think that meat makes no sense, I have a BSc from the OU, am an environmentalist and a buddhist and a socialist as well. I think that we should all use solar power and that if everyone was nicer to each other the world would be a better place. Bono is one of my 'celebrity' heros. Or...there's nothing wrong with GWB, we should let him and his cronies destroy the world as we know it, let anarchy prevail and hopefully humans will be wiped off the face of the world, leaving a safer place for all her other inhabitants. I've always been a fan of the Radical Dance Foundation...

New introduction

The past year has changed my direction in life and, somehow, when I read the introduction I wrote nearly 2 years ago, I don’t see myself...so, here’s another try!

I’ve stopped dying my hair red because I’m too lazy. But I’ve keep up the very-loud-music trend, rediscovering some old and forgotten favourites. I’ve stopped being a meat-producer, which has made me feel more comfortable with myself. Although I’m not a vegetarian, I now rarely eat meat. I guess moving to a new house has given me a new lease of life and the old, forgotten Elli (who was put away in the attic next to the Pink Floyd tapes) has re-appeared. I read recently that I am a typical 70s retro person, in fact I’ve read that more than once in the past few months, so there must be some truth in it! I’ve gone back to my roots as a socialist, feminist environmentalist....I’m just about 3 million times more out-spoken about it all than I was before I went up in the attic. I guess the time sitting in the box was well-used. Imagine The Good Life with broadband and better taste and you get something close to what I am ;-)
